Why we walk
The walk is one of the Foundation’s biggest fundraisers. Entry fees, corporate teams and pledge sponsorships all fund specialist treatment for children fighting cancer whose families can’t afford it.
KES 18.96M raised last year funded chemotherapy, ward beds and outreach clinics through the Cancer Program. The 2027 target adds capacity for more children on the waiting list.

Last time we walked
The morning of March 7, 2026, painted a picture of unwavering resolve. As dawn broke over Uhuru Gardens in Langata, more than 7,000 people – families, corporate teams, cancer survivors, medical professionals and school children – gathered for the 13km and 5km routes, every step a deliberate act of defiance against a disease that steals childhoods. The day’s “Champions of Hope” – a growing circle of former patients now in remission – took the stage alongside a community concert to celebrate the resilience of survivors and the dedication of supporters.
Taeghan, age 4Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in April 2025, Taeghan reached Gertrude’s after delays in accessing specialist care. Funds from the walk helped remove the financial barriers to her surgery and chemotherapy – she has since completed treatment and returned to normal childhood activities.
Fancy Leketiket, age 13From Baringo County, Fancy was connected to specialist care through the Daktari Smart Telemedicine Program, confirming a diagnosis of bone cancer. Support made possible by the Family Cancer Walk funded her treatment – she has since regained her ability to walk.
