For families in Mathare and other informal settlements across Nairobi — Mukuru, Korogocho, Dandora, Dagoretti, Kayole and beyond — the nearest hospital can be out of reach, whether by cost, distance, or both. Since September 2025, the Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital Mobile Clinic has closed that gap, bringing free, quality paediatric care directly into the community: consultations, diagnosis, treatment, health education and referrals, delivered by experienced paediatric health professionals.
The clinic works alongside Community Health Promoters, local leaders and county health teams, so care stays responsive to what each community actually needs. Since launch, the Mobile Clinic has reached more than 12,000 children with free healthcare — illnesses caught and treated early, caregivers equipped with practical knowledge on nutrition and hygiene, and a hospital visit removed as a barrier to a child getting seen.
