In rural Kenya, a child’s location has long determined their chance of survival. Facing a critical shortage of paediatric specialists, families in remote areas have had to choose between high travel costs or leaving a sick child untreated. Our Telemedicine Program changes that — placing world-class paediatric specialist care just a digital screen away.
The platform connects health workers in six rural facilities across Lamu, Samburu, Homa Bay, Baringo and Narok counties directly to specialists at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, using devices such as electronic stethoscopes, vital-signs monitors, ultrasound and ECG — in real time.
Our work has been featured at international forums including the 15th Coalition for Global Hearing Health Conference and the 57th Congress of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology, and we are partnering with the Social Health Authority to secure long-term government reimbursement.
